When our 7 year old daughter started showing interest in playing Chess and self learned the rules, we wanted to get her the professional help to explore her interest in this game.We are extremely happy that we chose MM Chess for this purpose. I participated in a 6 week program with a few private lessons and group lessons. As a beginner I was intrigued by the focus of the instruction. Misha and Steven are passionate about chess. Participating in the program was a lot of fun!

My son has been coaching under IM Bernadette for close to a year now and I have seen a significant improvement in his game. Not only that, he has been enjoying the game more that before and also more confident in taking on higher rated opponents. She was instrumental in his securing the top 4 position at National level in his grade. I have had a very good experience with MM Chess and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to improve their rating. The owner Misha is very helpful and worked with me to find a coach that suited my learning style. He has also put me in contact with local Chess Clubs and tournaments. I also find their prices to be extremely reasonable.My coach Ramiro is amazing! I originally only planned to take a lesson every 2 weeks but I enjoyed working with him so much that we meet weekly now. He is very thoughtful about his approach and teaches me how to understand overarching concepts in chess and not just memorization. I have already gained a few hundred rating points (~1500 to ~1800) in the 4 months we have been working together.

My son, Tucker, has been working with Steven for a little under a year, and we could not have been happier with the lessons. Steven is not only a highly accomplished chess player himself, but a very talented and dedicated teacher, who knows how to connect with his students to assure their success in learning. Tucker had had many lessons with other chess tutors from other companies prior to joining MM Chess, but only after he had started working with Steven that he has began making rapid progress and is on the way to becoming Chess Master! Fabian is an amazing chess teacher and has been teaching my daughter for the past few months. His lessons emphasize an integral part of chess: thinking about your opponent's potential moves and not moving brashly. He is great at giving advice to the student and making sure they fully understand the concept being taught. My son started showing a real interest in chess this year. We began homeschooling in the fall and I was hoping to get him involved in some outside classes to supplement my teaching. An ad for Mindful Masters Chess Academy came up and I contacted them. They have been very accommodating with my schedule and my budget and have worked out a great program for my 9 year old son. He loves talking with his teacher, Mike Benavides, and he has learned so much. He has also gained a tremendous amount of confidence in the game and has chosen to move up a level when practicing on his online profile. We can't praise Ms Cherry enough. My son is very anxious but he has developed a growth mindset when faced with challenges during his chess lesson. Having Cherry as his "chess master" (his words) made that happened. My 7 year old son looks forward to his lessons every week.

Great experience with chess lessons for my 2 kids, especially with Ms Cherry Ann. I love her approach to teach the kids which draws them to the game, rather than us forcing the kids to the lessons. One feedback to improve would be to have more tournament participation so that kids get more exposure. Overall, we are very happy to have found Cherry Ann.

Hey Mindful Masters team! I just wanted to say, I'm so happy to have discovered this chess academy and to have FM Alejandro Vega as my coach.After many lessons with Vega in order to improve my chess, I played my first tournament on May 31 and June 1; the u1600 section of the 3rd Ruth Haring Memorial tournament at Mechanics' Institute.Thanks to Vega's coaching, I managed to get 1st place! I even drew a 2000+ player in a casual game and destroyed a 1500 in a rated game! I am submitting one of my games for a brilliancy prize as well. MMCA was probably the best thing that could have ever happened to me; Vega's teaching style has inspired me to pass on what I've learned from him to younger aspiring chess players from around the world. My daughter Kaylee 10 years old been with MM Chess for over a year. She has Christy as her coach and she learns a lot from Christy. I like consistency. Even though we’re here in U.S and Christy is in Philippine but we find one time that works for both and consistently meeting weekly. Communicate and receive response very quickly from Christy when we need to cancel and/or setup makeup lessons. As a parent, I'm always interested in two things the quality of the learning for my son and his comfort/excitement levels. I can say that both are extremely high from MM Chess and specifically Mike B.The quality of the instruction has been high and my son has improved massively.More importantly it isn't always that a 12 year old feels excited to do lessons about anything but he loves working with Mike and gets energized to spend time with the him as an instructor and the content.

My 7-year-old has loved doing chess lessons twice a week as part of our homeschool curriculum. Coach Gabriel has made the lessons so fun and interactive. He has learned so much! He always looks forward to it and runs down to the computer.

I’m an adult improver and currently taking lessons in the MM chess academy with my coach IM Luis Medarde. Coach Christy is teaching my 6year old son. She is extremely polite and patient and knows how to handleA kid who is loosing focus often. She is such a nice teacher for young kids.

It's been a great experience with MM Chess, they have great flexiblity in scheduling; recently we had some schedule mishap due to our travel plans at last minute and both Misha & Marc were super accommodating.My son has really good time with his Coach Marc, and is enjoying the lessons and is improving his play. Marc & Misha have system to establish a plan after assessing the skills & level of my son which I really appreciate.It has been welcome addition of conducting monthly chess online tournaments by Misha & his team.My only feedback would be to conduct more such group activities; maybe like half day/day camps, maybe group lessons etc, looking forward to more such group activities.

Fabian has been an excellent tutor. Very patient, knowledgeable, and fun to learn with. Always makes the principles and tactics easy to understand and brings in the history of the game by reviewing legendary matches.

My 9 y.o. daugher has been Volha’s student for a few months and has been very pleased. Volha is always punctual for lessons, courteous, and does a lot to help build her students up, even when they make mistakes. In all an excellent teacher and coach with which you can’t go wrong!

I have been taking lessons from Cherry Ann for a while now. I prefer to study early in the morning, and I am grateful that Chery can accommodate my preference. She is listed as good for beginners, but I think she is also good for more advanced players. The most useful activities we do include game analysis practicing complex tactical positions and endgame training. To get the most out of the lessons I would recommend studying things outside of class. I think she is best at teaching endgame, but my progress was much faster once I started studying Karsten Muller's "Fundamental chess endings" I also study a lot of opening theory on my own and every now and then I come across a position I dont fully understand and find it useful to ask Cherry about it. Anyway I would highly recommend her. The only thing is sometimes things come up on her end and the class needs to be rescheduled but if you can be patient with this its not that big of a deal. Whenever we cant meet I normally just do some studying on my own. Sometimes extra lime to work on homework exercises can be good since the homework exercises can be quite challenging at times.

My 9 year old daughter and 8 year old son loved the way their coach, Marc Nazario, teaches chess. He is very professional and child friendly.
